About This Spot

Stepping into Malri Hyang, nestled along the quieter stretch of Pacific Highway in Federal Way, feels like entering a warm nook where the rich blend of Korean and Mandarin flavors gently unfolds. The space carries a comfortable, unhurried rhythm—neither too busy nor overly formal—a perfect spot to unwind over thoughtfully prepared dishes that invite both nostalgia and discovery.

The atmosphere here is straightforward and genuine, with an undercurrent of home-cooked care that resonates through each bowl and plate. It’s the kind of place where the familiar aromas of simmering broths and sizzling pans create an inviting lull—encouraging you to linger, savor, and perhaps share stories across the table.

Malri Hyang’s kitchen sparks joy in traditional Korean-Chinese fare, where the soft chew of noodles meets the deep umami of black bean sauces, and the crisp tang of sweet and sour pork pairs effortlessly with fragrant, pickled sides. Casual combos and steaming seafood noodle soups make for comforting essentials—meals that don’t merely fill the belly but evoke memories of family gatherings and celebration.

There’s a subtle charm in the way ingredients arrive: hearty, balanced, with little touches like delicate kimchi or house-made dumplings that speak to the skill and warmth behind the scenes. The steady flow of regulars and the kind, attentive service deepen the sense that this is a neighborhood table laid out to foster connection over shared flavors and simple pleasure.

For those discovering Malri Hyang for the first time, it offers an inviting detour from the typical, a cozy blend of tastes and textures that honor tradition while feeling unmistakably alive to today’s local vibe. It’s a place to come with care, and leave a little richer—in spirit and in appetite.

Jjajjangmyeon and tangsuyuk were pretty good. On the pricier side. Owner was friendly.

So Good and Delicious Korean-Chinese style dishes. I ordered JJajangMyun ( Black bean noodles) and TangSuYuk(Sweet and sour sauce with fried pork) incredibly tasty and yummy. I recommend this restaurant and I remembered my childhood favorite foods with my family from S.Korea. When I was young my family moved new home we ordered this food at new house. Because celebrating family time. Kinda good memories are back to me. My husband said Kimchi is good there too. I’m tourist in Federal Way from Vancouver Washington. I drove here 2hours and half from my house but don’t regret at all. Awesome. Crews are sweet and kind.

The chow mein was very good and the beef was very tender and the sauce was very good. I recommend coming here after shopping but even if you don’t shop or go here, the deli and others are good as well.

We had the jajangmyeon with sea food and egg soup. For Indians, who are accustomed to very spicy food, we really enjoyed the food here! The noodles were Al dente and the gravy quite tasty but had too much onions. It was still tasty!

Malri Hyang offers a welcoming atmosphere and truly outstanding service, attentive, gracious, and refreshingly prompt. The staff elevate the experience with their warmth and professionalism, making you feel genuinely cared for. As for the food, our visit was a mixed bag. The compound chicken, while visually appealing, lacked the bold flavors we hoped for, pleasant but forgettable. The eggplant stir-fry followed suit: tender texture, but missing the depth and seasoning that could have made it shine. Surprisingly, the orange chicken stood out with richer, more layered flavors and a satisfying finish. While the dishes didn’t quite hit the mark, the service alone makes Malri Hyang worth a visit. With a few tweaks to seasoning and flavor balance, the kitchen could easily match the excellence of the front-of-house.
